Reporter/Digital Assistant. Posted 7-20-2012. The Kane County Chronicle in St. Charles, Ill., is seeking a journalist who cannot only write a story but can also shoot video, update a website, manage social media accounts and design pages. In addition, the person must be able to drop everything when breaking news hits, in order to report on – and manage the display of – that news and video on multiple platforms.
Ideally, this person will have a broad journalism background. He or she will be able to help with obituaries, news briefs and phone calls when other duties aren’t pressing. The person must be ready to enter and assist a busy newsroom that is laser-focused on local news. He or she must be hardworking and enthusiastic, with a true passion for community news.
A degree in journalism is a must. Skills in InDesign and Final Cut or iMovie are preferred. The successful candidate must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, reliable transportation and acceptable motor vehicle record.

Features Editor. Posted 7-20-2012. The Kane County Chronicle, a growing daily newspaper in the western Chicago suburbs, is seeking a dynamic journalist to write for and design its feature pages. Our feature sections highlight the dining and entertainment scene in our coverage area, and the ideal candidate will have experience writing about these subjects.
The job requires candidates to have experience in pagination and to be skilled with InDesign and Photoshop. A good knowledge of video is a plus, including how to shoot and edit video using iMovie and/or Final Cut. The ideal candidate must be organized and outgoing and have a proven record of working under pressure and meeting all deadlines in a newspaper environment. This person should have a love for arts, entertainment and dining and enjoy being in this culturally diverse market.
The ideal candidate will have some professional newspaper experience as well as a degree in journalism or a related field.
